My family had the privilege of listening to three albums from Preborn Prodigy for this review to use in conjunction with our own curriculum at home. This is a Homeschool Review Crew Review. All opinions expressed are my own or those of my family.

Preborn Prodigy is a company that was founded by Sara Bumgarner; a wife, mother, grandmother, and owner of Sara’s Health Foods. With music, scripture, and prayer these albums were put together to give blessings to children from the womb and beyond. These CDs impart prayers and blessings from in utero and beyond and help children grow with an understanding of the promises found in God's Word helping them strengthen their relationship with God. These are available in physical CD format or as a digital download on iTunes, Amazon Play, Google Play and CD Baby and other digital providers. Besides English it is also available in Hebrew, German, Chinese, Spanish and Afrikaans.

The first CD, Preborn Prodigy: Prayers and Blessings for the Unborn Child, is an album that is designed to be listened to while your little one is still in the womb. This special album communicates positive and scriptural messages and imparts prayers and blessings to the unborn baby. These messages are set to soothing music. Total length of CD is 55:52.

These messages are set to soothing music and help baby with their true identity and purpose as they begin their journey here on Earth. Total length of CD is 54:45.

How We Used This and Our Thoughts:

The three albums we received were:

• Math Prodigy

Preborn Prodigy: Prayers and Blessings for the Unborn Child and Newborn Prodigy: Prayers and Blessings Newborn to 99 are loving reminders of what promises God gave us. Both albums are very similar in message, but are tailored to different audiences. One is for the unborn child and one is for the newborn baby. When I listened to the first one it reminded me of a relaxing meditation because of how the woman, Sara Bumgarner, is talking in a calm voice with lovely music in the background. I love that when God or Christ speaks in the album it is in a different voice, a males, voiced by Joshua Smith. The music is beautiful and is done by Emily Smith. I love the positive affirmations and scripture that it says. This album tells the unborn baby that they are loved, protected, safe, special, important, and wanted. That they have purpose, a destiny, and are created by God. It is all very uplifting and heartwarming. In my opinion, these spiritual truths need to be lovingly taught to all of God's children and what a wonderful way to start than in the womb with these teachings. I believe that even in the womb the unborn can hear the outside world, their parent's voices, and music. Even though they may not yet understand these messages they can still listen to them and feel the peace that they bring. The second album is just as lovely, but is designed for babies and young children. I love playing the second album for my daughters when they sleep or at while they play quietly. The life giving messages on both CDs; however, can be applied to all ages. These would be great for baby shower gifts for the pregnant mother.

Math Prodigy is done with the same calming music and narrator. This time though the narrator introduces the young child to math. The narrator talks about real-life examples and careers in which math is used and basic rules for each subject with examples with help memorizing. It does not include the full tables of addition or multiplication, but helps explain the basic concepts of math well.

Even though I do not plan on having more children of my own, I am planning on gifting these to my oldest when he is married and has children of his own. These are all lovely and I love the calming music that is in the background of each. They are meditative. I love how they are put together and I highly recommend them.

Tips for Pregnant and/or Nursing Women with Colds or Flu

The above picture is of me when I was pregnant with my daughter, Zari. My sister Melody who had her new baby girl December 29th of last year (this is her first pregnancy and child) asked me and her other friends on Facebook when she was pregnant to post any suggestions of what medicine or other remedies she could take that would be OK during pregnancy for cold/flu symptoms. I didn't even have to think about it. I have been pregnant and/or nursing most of my married life it seems. I have a lot of experience with pregnancy, childbirth and child rearing. It just comes naturally to me now. Here are my many tips I gave to her. I thought that I should share them with all of you too since many of you are mothers too.

1. Stay Hydrated: drink lots of herbal teas (especially ginger, echinacea, chamomile, and peppermint. Also, hot water with honey and lemon.) or other soothing hot beverages (only the ones safe for pregnancy though), eat soups, drink more water.

2. Get Enough Sleep and Rest: Prop yourself up if you have to so that you can breath in bed. Wrap around a large body pillow for comfort.

3. Get Fresh Air and Sunshine When Ever You Can: You need your daily dose of vitamin D from the sun and fresh air because it can get stuffy inside the house. Also exercise is still needed to keep you immune system healthy.

4. Eat Healthy Nourishing Meals/Foods: Eat foods with lots of garlic (if it doesn't cause problems) and vitamin C, eat and drink less sugar, add herbs and spices to your diet that fight growies (cardamom, cayenne, curry, cinnamon and cloves are effective bacteria fighters), eat a lot of green leafy raw veggies, eat yogurt because of the probiotics and drink cranberry juice (not juice cocktail!) especially if you are getting antibiotics.

5. Breath Again: use the Netti pot (make sure to disinfect it before and after every use), non medicated Saline Nasal Drops and Spray, Mentholated chest rub, steam and hydrotherapy (take a shower, hot bath, etc. Also, essential oils, such as tea tree, peppermint and eucalyptus are safe and effective to use with steam inhalations with a room vaporizer or humidifier.), Boogie Wipes.

6. Get Rid of Bad Bacteria and Keep The Germs Down: Saltwater gargle, Colloidal Silver (a few drops in the mouth or infected ear), the above herbs and spices in number 4, keep good hygiene and brush your teeth/tongue/gums regularly. Disinfect surface areas with a natural antibacterial like Seventh Generation or Method Sprays and wipes, ultra-violet light, isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil, or vinegar. Cough into your sleeve (the bend of your elbow) or a tissue not your hands. Don't stifle a cough and don't sniff the mucous back into your lungs. Sneezing, blowing your nose, and coughing are a must when trying to expel germs from the body. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.

7. Take Some Medicine and Natural/Homeopathic Remedies if needed for symptoms: Make sure they are safe for pregnancy and nursing women. These come to mind: Tylenol/Acetaminophen, cough lozenges (esp. the kind with propolis or eucalyptus and lemon), Emergen-C, Airborne, Cold Eeze, Boiron.

8. Keep Taking Your Prenatals and Supplement: Prenatals are important. Do not stop taking them when you are sick. Also take some Echinacea angustofolia and zinc supplements if you are not getting them in your prenatal because they help with immune support.

9. Use Hot or Cold Packs: For aches and pains hot and cold packs work wonders. You can get herbal packs, rice packs, or hot water bottles that work without wasting electricity too.

10. Seek Medical/Homeopathic Advice/Attention: If all else fails and you still feel sick go to a medical/homeopathic professional. Your body might need some stronger medicine/remedies that can only be prescribed.

One side is clipped onto the back pocket and the other side to the bottom of your band so that it will stay in place and not ride up. They come in a set of two, one for each back pocket. Wordless Wednesday It's A Girl! Meet Zari Katana!

My not so Wordless Wednesday Post:

Zari Katana came into this world October 19th, 2010 at 11:23 am. We now have another girl to even the score again :) She currently has dark brown hair and grayish-blue eyes. She was 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 20 inches long.

My contractions started to be more regular and closer together in the morning of the 19th. My mother had come to help out the night before. I was admitted to the hospital at 5:25 am, contracting every 1-2 minutes with them lasting 50-60 seconds, dilated to a 6, effacement 100% and station -1. My mom stayed with me acting as my labor coach. My husband watched the kids and the dog at home while I delivered.

The doctor broke my water at 6:30 am and checked my progress some time after that. I was dilated a 7 at that point and the doctor said the baby had her hand sticking out above her head so he could shake it. He said that if he didn't get it back below the baby's chin that I would have to have a c-section. I was in a lot of pain already, but was doing OK with just the medication they gave me and without an epidural at this point. The doctor told me that an epidural would make my pain a whole lot better while he adjusted the baby, so I agreed to have one. He got the baby adjusted better, but the baby's face was positioned the wrong way too until the doctor checked the baby later and determined it was in the correct position finally. I seemed to be stuck at 7 dilation though, so they started Pitocin to speed things along. I hate Pitocin because it makes the contractions a whole lot worse.

My labor started to speed up and I was actually glad I had the epidural this time although afterwords my back ached from the catheter being there. When I finally got to push (Oh my gosh, I so wanted to push earlier than they told me I could!) the baby's head started to emerge and I touched the crown. Then when the baby's head emerged more the doctor said that both her fists were tucked under her chin and that he would have to make a small episiotomy incision. Finally I got to meet my new baby girl! I held her for the first time and was so glad that the labor and delivery was over!

A day after birth her daddy and her siblings came to visit us in the hospital. They each got to hold her and admired how little she was. Teela, my youngest daughter who is 2 and a half says, "I like my new baby." and "I am petting the baby." (when she pats Zari gently). My recovery has been good and my precious little baby girl is breastfeeding well. I am so thankful to have a great family and friends who have been so very helpful to me throughout my pregnancy, delivery and afterwords.

Kiki's Fashions Review

I have my own clothing fashion style that I just absolutely love. I have talked about it briefly on this blog. I have kind of a hippie/boho style. I love clothing that has a ethnic flavor from a different country. I have been looking around the web for maternity clothing I like since I am pregnant and one of the stores online I came across had a lot of clothing I love. I picked the Jade Embroidered Short Sleeve Maternity Shirt from their store to try and review for free from Kiki's Fashions. I love this shirt! It reminds me of the Orient and I love the color! It has a tie in the back that enables you to cinch it up if needed and gorgeous embroidered accents that make the shirt more wonderful! The only real downside is that this shirt is made from 100% Rayon so it wrinkles easily and is more difficult to clean. Also, the front comes a bit low for me so I am more comfortable wearing a shirt under this. I picked the small because I am petite even when I am pregnant and it fit very nicely even though I am now 36 weeks. These shirts come in other colors besides this pretty jade (which is actually more of a teal): olive brown and light plum.

I love tea and herbal tea has been a favorite of mine since I was little. Tea drinking relaxes me and puts me in a better mood for the day. I recently went searching for some herbal tea that is safe to drink during pregnancy since some herbs are not safe for pregnancy. I came across a tea made by FairHaven Health called Tea-for-Two. Be Nice Prenatal Vitamin Drink Mix Review

I have been trying to keep healthy and hydrated during my pregnancy. I don't really like water all by itself...probably because my tap water at home isn't really the best tasting. That is why I wrote a post about naturally flavoring water. I saw a prenatal drink mix called Be Nice on another blog and wanted to try it for myself so I contacted the company and asked if I could review it. They sent me a box of 10 single serving size packets of each of their flavors for free to try and review. They make a Lemonade flavor and a Berrylicious flavor that is a blend of blueberry and strawberry.

I personally like the Lemonade flavor better than the Berrylicious one. They are actually a bit too sweet still for me so I end up adding more water or less powder. The flavors; however, may not appeal to all women. I love how compact and easy to take with you the individual packets are. Just add one packet to 16 fluid ounces of water and blend, shake or stir! Great also frozen into a Popsicle or icy cube for adding to other drinks.

Be Nice is a prenatal drink mix that keeps you hydrated while providing essential vitamins for moms-to-be and their growing fetuses, including folic acid to help reduce the risk of neural tube defects, and calcium and iron, which can easily become depleted during pregnancy. Along with those vitamins it also has vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D3, vitamin E, zinc, selenium and B-complex vitamins. These drink mixes also have DHA, docosahexaenoic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid that is naturally found in breast milk and fish (because of the algae they eat). It is crucial to the optimal development of the brain (At around 30-weeks gestation is the peak of brain development), eyes and nervous system in infancy and childhood. Ten Tips for Planning a Unique Baby Shower

Even though this baby will be my 5th child I have been thinking about having a baby shower. Who doesn't love getting gifts and having parties?? I want to throw a great party before the birth of my baby if I can pull it off. So, I have tried to do my homework on what exactly makes a great baby shower and I have come up with 10 tips. So, here they are:

1. Who, What, Where, When?: These simple questions should be answered before anything else happens in the planning process. Everything else will fall into place once the who, what, where, and when is decided. A great idea is to make a time line of what is going to happen in sequence at the party so you have a idea of the order of things.

2. Budget it out: You don't want to overspend on things. Make a budget of what you are willing to spend on everything and stick to it.

3. Pick a Theme: It is the theme of the party that makes the party special and all your own. This creates the layout and background for the decorations, food, games, party favors, cards, etc. Just don't overdo it!

4. Invitations: Go to these great online places to find cute baby shower invitations: Tiny Prints Baby Shower Invitations and Pear Tree Greetings Baby Shower Invitations. Also, if your feeling crafty you can make your own. Create a guest list of who you are wanting to invite. Are you going to invite just women or is your party going to include men too?

5. Party Decorations: Party Decorations come in all shapes and sizes. We have balloons, streamers, Diaper Cakes, table toppers, center pieces, etc. The list goes on. Also, don't forget the disposable plates, cups, and utensils...these can be decorations or decorated too.

6. Party Food: You can either plan on making the food yourself or have it catered. You don't have to serve a large meal...instead have a lot of different types of finger foods. Or another fun alternative plan is having a potluck or a "BabyQ", LOL!

7. Games and Festivities: Games help bring the guests and guest of honor together to mingle and possibly learn a few new things about each other. From guessing: the gender, size of the momma's tummy, how many safety pins in a jar, etc. to playing baby bingo, diapering dolly races, trivia, or charades. There are a lot of baby and momma-to-be themed games out there on the web. Make a list of your favorites and how they are played.

8. Party Swag Bags: Give your guests a little something they can remember your party by! Party favors are great, but most of the time get overlooked or under appreciated because of quality and under-use. Pick something or more than one something that you know all of your guests would love and use often...like a kitchen gadget or maybe a homemade magnet with a picture of your pregnant self and them to take home and place on their fridge. Don't forget that crafts the guests can take home can be fun at the party too!

9. Wrap It Up: Know how you are going to end the party and to politely tell the guests that it is time to wrap up the party and go home before you start. Know who is going to help with cleanup and how you are going to get the guest of honor and gifts home if the party was elsewhere. Also, find out where the extra leftover food is going to go.

10. Thank You Cards: When the party is done and over thank you cards are such a nice thought. While opening the gifts from your party have someone write down what you get and who it is from so you will know who to thank for what and who the gifts were from. Whether they gave a gift or not we want everyone that attended to know that we are grateful for them coming too so don't forget to send thank you cards to those people too. IntelliGender and IntelliCeuticals Review and Giveaway

With this new pregnancy I haven't really had much luck with finding out the baby's gender. The first ultrasound was with the ultrasound tech and she couldn't determine because the baby was being shy. My OBGYN read the second and third ultrasound and even though he told me that he isn't as good at interpreting the pictures as the ultrasound tech is, both times he said he was fairly certain he didn't see any boy parts.

I have been hearing about this new Gender Prediction Test (GPT) called IntelliGender on other blogs that I read. I guess curiosity got the better of me because I asked if I could review it and received an IntelliGender GPT along with some of IntelliGender's new IntelliCeuticals Elasti-Oil to test and review for free.

IntelliGender’s Gender Prediction Test (GPT) is a simple-to-use urine test that uses first morning urine and a proprietary mix of chemicals which reacts with a combination of hormones that, as early as 10 weeks into your pregnancy (8 weeks post- conception), provides immediate gender results in the privacy and comfort of the home. In minutes, the IntelliGender GPT indicates your gender result based upon an easy to read color match. Green indicates boy and yellowish-orange indicates girl!

I did some homework before doing the test myself to see what other responses were about the test and apparently stumbled on a bit of a find. My GPT's directions said to read the test at the 5 minute mark, at 8 minutes the test is over and further color change is irrelevant. The box it came with also says Clear Results In Just Minutes! The older tests used to say on the box, "Get Clear Results In 10 Minutes!" and the people that blogged about them waited a full 10 minutes for the results. So, I wonder what if anything has changed about the product other than the directions and packaging. I also have been told by others that it is just a fancy PH test, but IntelliGender denies this on their website. My husband didn't think that my hormones would influence whether my baby is a boy or girl and the unborn baby won't produce any sex hormones until puberty. I guess I am just as skeptical about the results I got. Before the test I read through the instructions completely and followed them accurately to the best of my knowledge. At the 5 minute mark I read the IntelliGender test and it was greenish, so possibly a BOY? Although, at 10 minutes I re-read the test again and it was yellowish, so possibly a GIRL? So...As for the gender of my baby I guess only time will tell, LOL!

I also got the chance to test out IntelliGender's new IntelliCeuticals Elasti-Oil. I am glad to have had the chance to test this product and liked the results far better than the GPT. IntelliGender's new IntelliCeuticals Elasti-Oil is wonderful for stretch marks! I love the smell of the warmed aromatic oils when I gently massage it on my belly. The ingredients are heavenly! It has Mandarin essential oil from the outer peel of the mandarin fruit, Neroli essential oil from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, Patchouli essential oil from the bushy herb of the mint family, Rose Geranium essential oil from the rose geranium herb, Rosehip essential oil from the fruit of the rose plant, and Vitamin E oil. When used as recommended (2.5-5ml single dose), one bottle of 60 ml Elasti-Oil will provide 12-24 applications. My skin feels great after using this oil and my belly doesn't feel like it is being stretched completely out of shape anymore.

First Ultrasound Pictures and Gender??

On May 5th, 2010 before my long road trip with my family I got these ultrasound pictures taken of my new baby from the ultrasound technician. The first picture is of the baby's face. Such big beautiful eyes! The second one is of the baby's hand and arm. I can't wait for the baby's hand to wrap around my finger! The baby was being shy then and so didn't show its gender. I got to also see and hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time and it was wonderful!

Today, July 5th 2010, I went to another OBGYN appointment and this time the doctor did the ultrasound. He looked and said the baby was cooperating this time, but said he didn't want to guarantee the gender because he isn't an ultrasound technician. I wish he printed pictures of his possible findings, but he didn't. He did say that he was pretty sure that he didn't see any boy parts and so he thinks I am having a GIRL!! I am excited! I hope he is right, but either way I will be happy :)

SoundBeginnings by CreativeBaby Inc. is a band that you wear around your pregnant belly that allows you to place your audio player into a pocket that is located in the front and play music, voice, or sounds to your unborn child. The pocket has a cord you plug your mp3 or audio player into and then the pre-natal sound delivery device delivers the sound to speakers that are safe for baby to listen to while inside the womb. There is even a headphone splitter that is included so that you can listen along with baby. These bands come in three different colors and two different sizes to accommodate the expectant mother.

I chose and received a white one in size B for free to test and review from CreativeBaby Inc. I thought the fit was a bit snug especially since the baby is still growing inside of me, but it stretches since it is made of nylon/lycra and was still comfortable to wear. I don't know if I am going to be able to wear it later on in my pregnancy, but they do have a size bigger. I love the concept of the whole device because of all the benefits of good music to the baby-to-be and how easy it was to just plug in my player and play whatever I chose for baby to listen to. I love that it makes my audio player hands free so I can also listen to music on it while baby does and multitask on other projects. You can if you wish hide it under a slightly loose shirt so no one knows it is there and it is virtually undetectable depending on how your audio player is shaped. I have a Philips SA1110/37 1GB Flash Audio Player and it is not flat like an iPod so it sticks out and creates a lump inside the pocket. When I was playing music for my unborn baby and bonding I believe that baby-to-be liked it because I felt a lot of movement like baby was dancing :) If you are not expecting a new little one maybe you know someone that is. This would be a great pre-natal baby shower gift!

B-natal Review and Giveaway

Today I went to my doctor and got an ultrasound done. I got to see the baby for my first time and get the first ultrasound pictures. I am officially 16 weeks into my pregnancy and the baby's due date is October 20, 2010. The baby was being shy so I still do not know what gender the baby is. I bet you didn't know that I am expecting. I didn't divulge this information until now for many reasons. One being I had a miscarriage in August of 2009 and I wanted to make sure this pregnancy was going to be OK. I still hope that it is. I usually have morning sickness throughout my first trimester and a little in my second, which you know can strike at any time of day! I had treated it by sniffing lemons, eating snacks throughout the day...crackers are good, and now I know of another great remedy to use.

I Was With Child

I feel I need to share this with you. Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 I miscarried. I know not how far along I was in my pregnancy and did not officially know I was pregnant. A couple days at least before Tuesday I started what I thought was a very late period. Since I am still breastfeeding my youngest I thought that this was just an irregular period. Then on Tuesday I knew there was something dreadfully wrong. I was bleeding and cramping way too much. Teela, my youngest, didn't know what was going on and was trying to comfort me by hugging me and being with me. I called my mother, my husband, and then the ambulance. The ambulance took me to the ER after my husband soon arrived to watch our kids. Once the ambulance arrived I was not cramping any more. I do not know if it was the Ibuprofen, I took in the morning when the cramps started getting bad, that had finally kicked in or something else had happened to lessen them.

At the ER they did all kinds of tests on me. They did a pregnancy test and it was positive. They did a blood test to rule out infections and anemia...none were found. They did an ultrasound to rule out an ectopic pregnancy and found no fetus; although, they did say that the uterine lining was thick like it was supposed to be while pregnant. Then they pronounced it an incomplete miscarriage (spontaneous abortion) and sent me home saying that I needed to get a check up with my doctor in a few days so that he could check and make sure I wouldn't be needing a D&C (dilation and curettage). Thankfully my doctor said I didn't need one. Still it was all emotionally and physically taxing.

At that point a lot of things were gong through my mind...maybe I shouldn't have taken that Ibuprofen, maybe I shouldn't have been lifting my five year old disabled daughter or my one and a half year old daughter, maybe I shouldn't been drinking all that caffeine, maybe I should have checked right away if I was pregnant after missing possibly one to two periods... The list went on in my head of maybes. But it was done and lingering on the ifs and maybes will just drive a person mad. So, instead I turned my thoughts to God. This miscarriage was one of many challenges and obstacles that I have had and will continue to overcome. Life is precious, but this life that was lost to me is now in heaven with God. It must have been so pure in spirit that it only needed just moments in the womb to live. I am happy I got to have this challenge as it has just made me stronger. I hope the challenges and obstacles that you face in life also make you stronger and that you too can overcome!

My Pregnancy and the Use of Herbs

I have always loved drinking herbal tea. But I always look up the herbs involved in making the tea while I am pregnant or breastfeeding as a precautionary measure. Pregnant

I am pregnant in my 3rd trimester now. The new baby is due April 9th, 2008. I am excited to have another baby...possibly another girl from what the ultrasound tech said. If the baby is a girl she will even out the score a bit :o) I am having a great pregnancy so far, with just a little nausea my first and second trimesters. I am having a few leg cramps now that I am in my 3rd trimester, but this is normal for me. I hope to have a normal, healthy, and safe labor with out having to have an epidural. I have been using Cocoa butter lotion on my belly so that it will minimize stretch marks and doing prenatal yoga for exercise. I have gained roughly 25 pounds so far. My family is excited too!
