Bringing Baby Home

I just recently brought home my new daughter, Zari Katana. Here I am finally home with her. Bringing home a new baby from the hospital is something that shouldn't be stressful. You should be able to enjoy your baby and not be bombarded by chores or things that have piled up while you were away at the hospital.

Here are 10 Tips For New Moms (or well versed moms) Who Are Bringing A New Baby Home:

1. Have an adequate support system! Someone to provide emotional support, help with chores and cooking, run errands, watch other siblings, etc. Sometimes you just need some time alone with baby or a nap once in a while!

2. Spoil your newborn. Give your new baby loads of attention, lots of love and affection. Hold your baby and cuddle it.

3. Babywear your baby safely! I am a big promoter of babywearing! When done safely there are so many bonding experiences you can share with your new little one!

4. Go Green! Use reusable cloth diapers, eco-friendly cleaning products, etc. These are better for the environment and better for you and your family!

5. Make sure pets are prepared for baby's arrival. Here is a great resource for doing so. Pets need to be accustomed to babies and introduced to this early so that they don't react in a negative way.

6. Start Going to Bed a little earlier. You need your sleep and so does baby. Being well rested is essential to being a mom and not feeling so stressed!

7. Make noise while baby is asleep! It really doesn't need to be totally quiet for baby to sleep peacefully. I have found that making noise while baby is sleeping helps baby come accustomed to everyday life around my house and become more of a sound sleeper.

8. Give other family members and pets your attention too! Hubby needs some lovin' too. Don't forget to include the pet and the other siblings in activities with the new baby or some one on one attention while baby is getting held by someone else.

9. Breastfeed if you can! Breastfeeding is so much healthier for baby than formula. It helps baby ward off sickness too. It also creates more of a bonding experience and helps you lose that unwanted post baby fat that you gained during pregnancy!

10. Enjoy your newborn! Your little one won't stay little for long. Take lots of pictures and/or videos of your infant. Babies keep changing and they change quickly ...so get it captured and write down those precious moments in a keepsake book of some sort.

Do these 10 tips and I assure you life will be better and less stressful for everyone. Make time for yourself, the other members of your family, and your pets. Cherish the precious time you have with your baby...they grow up so quickly!

Eucerin Everyday Protection Lotion Review

I received a 4 fl oz bottle of the Eucerin Everyday Protection Lotion for face with a SPF of 30 and a 13.5 fl oz bottle of the Eucerin Everyday Protection Lotion for body with a SPF of 15 for free from Eucerin to try out and review.

It is so important to take care of your skin. The need for skincare products that nourish and protect our skin so that our skin stays youthful looking and healthy is ever growing with the impact of UV radiation from the sun's rays. Recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation, Eucerin Everyday Protection Lotion is a wonderful product that helps protect the skin from this harmful exposure. It's ingredients of micro-fine zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide blockage against UV causing skin damage. They are enriched with Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, to help protect from free radicals damaging the skin cells. It is fragrance-free, oil-free, non-irritating and won't clog pores.

I love these products! I only wish that the SPF were higher on both. I applied the face lotion on my face and was very happy with the feel. I did the same with the body lotion and applied it to exposed skin except for my face. Both were a little oily, but overall they went on smooth and felt good on my skin. As soon as I applied the lotions my skin felt very moisturized and it is proven to relieve dry skin for 24 hours. My skin felt healthier with these products on and I felt better knowing that my skin was being protected. My son, Jaedan, has such sensitive skin that I wanted to try these out on him also. He didn't have any break outs or skin irritations with these products.

The more sunburns as a child the higher the risk of getting skin cancer. That is why I feel it is so important to protect my kids from the damaging effects of the sun! You should apply sunscreens with at least 15 SPF and encourage your child to wear hats with brims and coverage. Some hats I have seen are also made out of UV protectant material which is a plus. Sunglasses that provide protection from UV radiation are also recommended, even for the very young child. Although many children may want to play outdoors wearing little clothing in the hot summer time, we as parents should encourage our children to keep as much skin area covered by clothing as possible. These guidelines are not only great for our kids, but we need to also take them into account for ourselves so that our skin can stay healthy and youthful.

Lunchables Lunch Note Promise SiteWarming Twitter Party

About Lunch Note Promise:
Beginning this week, the folks at Lunchables invite parents across the country to take a moment and place a note of encouragement in their child’s lunch before they go to school. If you homeschool like me and make meals on the go put a little note in for the car ride to brighten their day. Are you ready to promise to join the campaign to give children what they need – a little encouragement?

For every parent that makes that promise at Lunch Note Promise, Lunchables will donate a meal to children and families in need through Feeding America, which serves an estimated nine million children each year. Together we can help Lunchables reach their goal of turning 100,000 promises into up to 100,000 meals!

So, go to Lunch Note Promise and make your promise. Then they also have neat downloadable lunch notes that are in PDF format for you to print out! Easy!

About the Party:
I just learned on Resourceful Mommy that Lunchables is having a Twitter SiteWarming party Tonight for their new website, Lunch Note Promise and I thought you might like to know about it.

Date: Friday, September 11th
Time: 9p.m.-10p.m. ET
Hashtag: #Lunchables
Location: Twitter
Host and Who to Follow: @ElizCron on behalf of Lunchables, @ResourcefulMom, and @TwitterMoms

Go HERE to find out more on the party and to RSVP!

*Note on Lunchables...they aren't what they used to be. They are a lot healthier and more wholesome than the Lunchables they had back when I was in school. Check out what Resourceful Mommy says about them and then go check the them out on the Lunchables website. Sure they still have the cold pizza, but it has wholegrain crust now and they also have New Lunchables with sub sandwiches! They also have added bottled spring water, apple sauce, sugar-free Jell-O, and 100% juice to the meals.

Grandparents.com Review and Twitter Party

National Grandparent's Day is Sunday, September 13th. If I get around to it on that day I will be celebrating by posting some pictures and a little bit about my family's grandparents and great grandparents (to some).

Speaking of grandparents... grandparents.com is a great website that you can go to to get everything you need to make Grandparent's Day special.

We had some fun with a new technology on Grandparents.com and used it to send emails to them with a recording of my boys voices. All you have to do is go HERE on Grandparents.com dial their phone number, put in a passcode, and record your message, hang up, click finished on the computer, and send it to any email you like. Simple! Their grandparents can now send my children a message back if they want to using the same "Your Voice" technology. You can also download and save the message to listen to over and over again if you like. It is all done for FREE!

HERE is the message my boys and I did for their grandparents.

Also if you haven't heard already...
