Give a Novica Gift for Christmas, Review and $50 Gift Certificate Giveaway #ComplimentaryProductReceived

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary $50 GC to get something for myself for posting this provided information and the opportunity to give another away to my readers. My thoughts are mine and my family's own opinion and have not been altered by anyone else. I did not receive any other compensation for doing this post.

NOVICA helps change the lives of artisans in developing nations, while offering us extraordinary handmade gifts, jewelry, apparel, and home decor. There are so many talented artists and artisans around the world. NOVICA provides these unique, hard-to-find items on their internet website at great prices. These services are all fair trade, meaning that they don't charge the artists and artisans any listing fees and the artists and artisans remain fully independent. They are free to raise their prices, lower their prices, or remove their items from their website whenever they please. This website is great to buy something from for your special someone for Christmas, just remember since these items are coming all the way from the country they are made in, the shipping might take longer than expected.

This is a review I wrote about the artisan who made my metal wall sculptures.

I received $50 to spend on Novica. I wanted something that could decorate the side of my farm's well house. I needed something bright and cheery so that when guests come up our driveway they would notice it. I found a gorgeous steel wall sculpture of a Violet Hummingbird by J. Blas from Mexico. It was the perfect price because it was just a cent less than the GC I received and since I am a Novica Ambassador I received free shipping. It is shaped by hand and has cutout motifs on its wings and tail feathers. It is the perfect size too at just 21.25 inches high x 15 inches wide x 2.4 inches deep you can still tell from the road coming to our home that it is a hummingbird. I also learned that in Mexico when someone sees a hummingbird in flight, they make a wish. I love this sentiment so much!

I had purchased a different wall sculpture from the same artist a number of years back called 'Cave Art Pony' which is hung on a wall in my living room and I love it too. These metal wall sculptures are so unique and wonderful! I highly recommend J. Blas and his artwork!

Assorted face masks from Novica.

Be sure to check out Novica's selection of beautiful face masks. They will keep you safe during COVID times and your purchase will help the artisans too. These are all unique and there is sure to be one that fits your style.

I received $35 to spend on Novica. I love the variety and eclectic feel to Novica. I sought out something unique to bring a welcoming knock to my farm house door. I purchased a Horse Door Knocker called 'Horse Arrival' which is made out of copper plated brass that has an antique look with a lacquer finish. It is so very perfect for welcoming guests into my home. This horse head door knocker is hand crafted by Khalid Ali, an artisan in India, and inspired by the ancient Mughal style. It even came with the iron screws to mount it. This door knocker gives an ambience of dignity and grace and also has a neat feel of the orient. At a little over a pound in weight, this has got some beef to it. I love the way it looks and hope it lasts a long long time out in the elements. I cannot wait to install it!

This brass door knocker 'Horse Arrival' can be found in decor accessory categories such as Animal Themed Decorative Hardware. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.

Novica $40 Gift Certificate Giveaway and New Premium Gift Wrap Review

Novica's Premium Gift Wrap

We received product free from Novica to facilitate this review and the opportunity below to giveaway a $40 Gift Certificate. Affiliate links may be in this posting. Thanks for supporting my blog.

This website is great to buy something from for your special somebody for the holidays, just remember since these items are coming all the way from the country they are made in, the shipping might take longer than expected.

NOVICA now has new premium gift wrap in 3 of their regions: Bali, Thailand and India; and they will be offering it to all of their locations soon. I was asked to get something from one of these regions with a $40 gift code that they gave me and also try out their new premium gift wrap. Most premium gift wrap is only $3.95-$5.95 per item. It is as unique as the gift you choose to have wrapped. The premium wrap has handmade elements, carefully crafted ribbons and beautiful brass plates.

Songbird Haven Rosewood tea light holder made by Reshma Anand in India

I chose the Songbird Haven Rosewood tea light holder made by Reshma Anand in India. It came wrapped in the premium gift wrap which is basically brown (or white) paper, pretty fabric, ribbon, and a brass plate that says NOVICA on it. Inside the wrapped box is another box that is blue with a lid and stamped with what looks like a partridge in a pair tree. The tea light was wrapped in white tissue paper to protect it while traveling. The Songbird Haven Rosewood tea light holder was just what I thought it would be. I love the birds nestled in the leafy branches of the shady tree that is carved in low relief and hand painted. I love the rosewood this is made out of. The wood has such gorgeous figure in it. This candle holder can be placed on a surface, like a table or shelf or hung on the wall like a sconce. It comes with a tea light that has an aluminum casing for safety.

The Songbird Haven Rosewood tea light holder can be hung on the wall.

Novica's Gift Finder and $40 Giveaway

Novica has a new gift finder on their website and it is so easy to find unique gifts made by fantastic artisans worldwide. Most gift finder search engines on websites are hard to use and don't really find what you are searching for. Novica's gift finder is easy and searches quickly narrowing everything down to the specific search. It has categories you can pick to search under to narrow the search down even further. The categories you can search under are: Gifts for Her, Gifts for Him, Gifts by Price, Home Decor, Gift Suggestions and Curated Collections. These categories even narrow further, for example you can choose search bracelets under Gifts for Her. If you click on one of those categories you can also sort those items by artist, name or price up at the top right of the page. You can also go to the left side bar and narrow down even further by clicking on a specific link. These are narrowed by gender, type, interest, personality, gift type, occasion, price and region. I love the Gifts for the Animal Lover and Eco-Friendly Gifts category.

I have gotten gifts from Novica before and my experience was wonderful. The items I got were of exceptional quality in every way and so very unique. My brooch and earrings from them always get lovely comments from people wanting to hear where I got them and the story behind each piece.

Novica is a great place to shop especially to get gifts for your friends and family for Christmas. With your purchase you also help Novica make the holidays extra special for their extremely talented and deserving artisans. As you can see there are so many different ways you can narrow and define your search for the perfect unique gift with their new Gift Finder.Try it out for yourself today!

My "Brave" Experience

June 22nd Disney/Pixar's Brave opened in theaters across the country. I went to see it with my husband and my boys on July 1st in theaters. I kinda wished Disney/Pixar didn't put out so many trailers for the film as I felt as though I had seen most of it. But the high spirited flaming red-haired lass, Merida, was my favorite of course along with her triplet wee devil brothers and her horse Angus. Her mother Queen Elinor was also another one of my faves because of her role in the whole movie.

Here I am sitting in front of the movie poster at the theater with my free Brave Kid's Reusable Meal Bag my kids got me at Subway :) These are free with purchase of Subway Fresh Fit For Kids Meal. You can collect all 6. You can also possibly win free tickets to Brave with entry code that comes inside the bag. These are available while supplies last and only while the promotion is going on so hurry and get yours soon! I have the 'Merida and the Highlands' one so far.

I loved Merida's archery! I would love to be able to shoot arrows like that, especially while riding a horse! My oldest son Delbin got a trainer bow at the Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show back in February and my husband just got him arrows and some bales of hay to practice on.

I've put this doll on my daughter's wishlist! This doll is by Tollytots and is of Merida with Angus. So cute!! I love horses! I also love their other dolls and they make other Merida ones too.

Also, look at this neat Brave - Aim For Your Dreams Disney Gift Card. You can get cool Disney gear with it at Disney Theme Parks and stores.

You can also download Brave Family Activity Sheets here.

Anyway, if you haven't seen Brave it is definitely worth watching. I enjoyed the movie very much. Have you seen it yet?

They have some very great gifts, including: Unique Corporate Gifts, Silk Shawls, Pendants bracelets, and Women's wraps and sarongs.

I love the NOVICA platform. They have a story of the specific artist and artisan on the item's page for every item they create. They cover the Andes, Bali and Java, Brazil, Central America, India, Mexico, Thailand, and West Africa regions. I love learning about the artist or artisan that has made the items when I purchase from there. You can search for what you want to look for in their search and narrow it down even more from there. You can also search from low to high price or high to low price. They also have these categories that you can search under as special features right now: Valentine's Day Gifts, Gift Finder, Eco-Friendly Gifts, Gifts for Mom, Gifts for Dad, Corporate Gifts, Spiritual & Inspirational Gifts, Fast Shipping Gifts, Collectibles, Featured Sale, and Gift Animals.

I also love their new home party division, NOVICA LIVE. If you join as a consultant you will be getting in early and making good money in direct sales supporting artisans worldwide. NOVICA LIVE is expanding across the country right now and signing up new consultants every week. The starter kits are only $199 and have over $400 worth of samples and $150 in business materials. They have a lot of promotions going on for their early consultants, including earning a trip to recreate Eat, Pray, Love with their co-founder Armenia in Bali (she was featured in Liz Gilbert's book)! Also, they have a generous commission plan so you can make money while working just a few hours per week. If you sign up to host a party or be a new consultant please put in my blog url on the Contact Us page under the drop down text input box where the question says, "How did you hear about NOVICA Live", after you select "from a blogger" or "from a website". This way they can offer me credit for referring you.

I received a free $50 Gift Certificate from NOVICA so that I can review some items later on my blog once they arrive from Thailand. I picked some gorgeous Natural orchid dangle earrings called 'Twilight' made by artisan Danai and a beautiful Lapis lazuli and smoky quartz brooch with 'Phuket Flowers' made by Nareerat.

Holiday Gift Guide 2011 UncommonGoods Review and $50 Giveaway

UncommonGoods is a unique online store with some very unusual items (some handmade) that you don't find in every day shopping usually. Their products make great gifts for the holiday and Christmas season! They also have some really interesting facts or what they call "Uncommon Knowledge" posted around their website and feature some of the artists and designers of their handmade goods in highlights on some of the pages on their website and their print catalog. They are committed to the environment and print their catalogs on recycled paper and there is also products in their store that are made of recycled materials. In their Better to Give Program they donate a portion of each order to your choice of non-profit organizations: American Forests, AmeriCares, City Harvest, and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN).

I know my husband and most other men are the hardest to shop for during the holidays, but UncommonGoods has a selection of great gifts for him on their website that he would love. They also have this great guitar pick punch that I thought was very cool for someone that plays guitar. My favorite section on their website is the gifts for kids because I love shopping for my children. This is where I found the two gifts for them that I got for free to review on my blog. I got the Periodic Table Building Blocks and the Pita Pockets Lunch.

The Periodic Table Building Blocks are awesome for homeschooling! I got them for my boys and as soon as they opened them they were looking up YouTube videos about each scientific element and learning about them. They also like taking some of the ones they know about and combining them to try and make new elements or see what would happen if combined. These are great for teaching chemistry. My younger children loved stacking them to build sky scraper towers and knocking them over. They come in a set of 20 brightly colored basswood blocks that contain the entire periodic table. The six sides contain a unique element's name, atomic number and symbol in bright blue, purple, green, red, orange or pink. Handmade in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Pita Pockets Lunch I got for my daughter Teela because she loves to pretend play in her little fold up kitchen. I had never seen this set of play food before and was thrilled to have found it at UncommonGoods. I try to get play food for her that doesn't have fast food or unhealthy choices in it. This set is wonderful because it is all healthy. My daughter loves to mix and match the contents of the felt pita pockets stuffed with soft felt slices of lettuce and cheese, and wooden tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and green peppers!

Pampers’ Miracle Missions Pay-It-Forward and $50 Gift Card Giveaway

My sister Jennifer just got off her LDS mission from Hawaii. Although, while there for 18 months she didn't get to swim in the ocean or with dolphins, she will tell you that she had a lot of great experiences, met a lot of new people, and learned a lot. Now that she is sort of back home she is actually jobless, car-less, and has no home of her own...not to mention money-less. So, in the spirit of giving I am gifting my sister the $50 gift card that I received to pay-it-forward somehow from Pampers' Miracle Missions Program. She has been staying with us for 2 weeks after being with my parents in Sweet Home, Oregon some. She is also helping me out as I do not have my drivers license yet and she has been taking me out to practice driving so hopefully I can pass the drivers test on the 8th of June. I really hope to pass the test because I have taken it before and just get nervous enough that I make too many small mistakes and then don't pass.

Everyone can easily participate in the Pampers' Miracle Missions Program in a small way too by logging on to Pampers Facebook page by hitting ‘like’ and then going to the Miracle Missions tab and committing to Mission 2 by clicking “I Want To Help.” Once more than 4,000 people help, Pampers will respond by giving throw special Father’s Day cook-outs for dads and babies across the country designed to give dads and their babies valuable bonding time. As a side note, anyone who pledges is automatically entered to win a year’s supply worth of Pampers diapers and wipes!! Pampers will issue different missions throughout the entire year to celebrate all aspects of parenthood, and with the help of parents, family and friends, they hope to touch the lives of every baby born in the next year.

For more detailed information on the Little Miracle Mission, including the kick-off where Pampers donated care packages to Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across the country with the help of celebs Joey Lawrence, Ali Larter, Mark Consuelos and LaLa Anthony were on-hand in New York City – go here: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/49336-Pampers-50th-Anniversary/

CardsDirect.com makes it simple to order, send, and personalize all types of cards, whether it be Christmas Cards, Photo Christmas Cards, or Photo Cards. I am excited to be using them for my cards that I will be sending out to people, although I haven't decided yet if I will be using them for my Christmas cards or for my Birth Announcements or both.
