Holly Lane's sterling silver Christian jewelry is intentionally designed to create opportunities to share Christ with others and spark conversation about the verses in the Bible they are based on. When worn it is a personal reflection of faith. Each piece is lovingly designed by Tiffany Scott in Virginia. This jewelry helps bring comfort to the wearer of God's promises. Each piece of the Holly Lane line comes with a Story Card that features the verse reference on the front, and an explanation of the design's significance on the back. Tiffany uses many different semiprecious gemstones throughout the line. The customer can put together combinations of pendants, chains, and bead drops based on the promises that manifest more in their lives currently. Each piece of the Holly Lane line is packaged with the utmost care to make the unboxing experience special.

What We Thought:

I received the Esther Necklace from Holly Lane. When I opened the box it had arrived in I was in awe of the lovely way it was wrapped and presented. Inside the parcel was a magnificently gift-wrapped bundle. It was enclosed in decorative tissue paper with flecks of gold, a blue ribbon, and a gold embossed sticker with a crowned bird on it. Once I gently unwrapped that I first found a card with a bit about the company and a sheet with my order information.

Under that was a nest of shredded brown paper. In the center of the nest was a sticker with waves and the words, Be Still Psalm 46:10 and the Holly Lane logo in the lower corner. Under the sticker was a small box that opened with a ribbon tab like a drawer. The floral lined drawer held the Esther Story Card on top of a velvet pouch with the necklace inside.

After admiring and unraveling all of the intricate wrapping I finally beheld the Esther Necklace. The jewelry piece is so gorgeous! The pendant has a lovely geometric flower radiating from the center over a Star of David that represents Esther's beauty and influence as well as her heritage and faith. I love how it says, "You Make Me Brave" on the backside of the pendant too. Its two-tone sterling silver chain is adjustable up to 20" and is just as beautiful as the other details. Dangling from the chain are fine silver beads and iridescent freshwater pearls. The finishing touch is an 8mm genuine amethyst in a pretty bezel setting to represent Esther's royal position. I love the deep purple color of the amethyst! Amethysts are such pretty crystals. This necklace is a testament to that in which: if we have faith in God, He will help us be brave in the situations that we need to be brave the most.

I received two pendant necklaces, both done in large square 24K gold plated pewter. The first necklace is in memory of my beautiful daughter, Tatiana, whom passed away in 2010. It hangs on a gold-plated ball chain with a fixed stamped "T" gold heart, rose gold drop and pink Swarovski crystal embellishment. I love this necklace of my daughter, Tatiana! She will always be close to my heart and this necklace is a perfect way to communicate this. The second necklace has a photo of my husband, Brian, and I. It also hangs on a gold-plated ball chain with two jade round bead accents that move freely up and down the chain.

I loved how the necklaces were packaged in brightly colored tissue paper and hung on a card inside when they arrived. I was not expecting the embellishments at all. They were a very happy surprise and really made the pieces even more exceptional. Both necklaces turned out very lovely. I will certainly treasure my necklaces from Recollected Pieces forever.

Tabitha, of ReCollected Pieces, was very nice and friendly to work with. She had a few hiccups with my order. The heart pendants that she was offering just didn't work out with her resin technique, so she took them off her list. To compensate for the inconvenience, she made me two pendant necklaces instead of just one. Because the heart was no longer a choice she made me square shaped pendants. As you can probably see, Tabitha really puts her heart and soul into these pieces to make them all very special and unique to the wearer.

My Birthday and Teela's Visit at her Babu's

My birthday was May 10th. I didn't get to do a lot because my husband was working, but here is a recap of my day.

Here is what my kids did: Jaedan made me breakfast in the morning. He made me a breakfast burrito with sauteed green peppers, potatoes, and cheese. It was very yummy! Delbin gave me a necklace he made and some pieces of really neat pottery he found to make a mosaic with. Teela came home from visiting her grandparents, Babu and Papa, and she got me a small pretty fabric gift bag and made me a card that she put in it. She also colored a picture of Pinky Pie (a My Little Pony) and while she was away made me the following special program called Teela's Visit to Babu's 2012...



My parents (aka Babu and Papa to my kids) took me shopping at Ross Dress For Less and I purchased 3 awesome shirts, a beautiful long missoni skirt and a Wilton Mini Rectangle Pie Press with money allotted for me from my husband for my birthday. I also received a very nice dress also from Ross Dress for Less from my parents.

After shopping for my birthday we then had a late picnic dinner with BBQ chicken and potato salad. My mom brought her yummy homemade cinnamon rolls that I ate this morning for breakfast :) I also received a $10 Amazon GC (just another great perk for being a Purex Insider) that came on my birthday from Purex in the mail (actually for Mother's Day, but a very nice treat anyway). My other gifts were a pretty Shamballa bracelet and a bronze floral deer necklace.

Inspired by Finn Baltic Amber Teething Necklace Review and Giveaway

I received two different Inspired by Finn Baltic Amber Necklaces to test and review for free. These beautiful necklaces are made with beads made out of amber, fossilized tree resin, that date back tens of millions of years ago. This particular type of amber comes from the Baltic region, the area surrounding the Baltic Sea. This region is home to the largest known deposit of amber. These necklaces just glow with gorgeousness.

Contrary to popular belief when the Baltic amber necklaces are use for babies and toddlers for teething they are NOT supposed to be chewed on. Instead they are supposed to be worn so that the healing oils can be absorbed through their skin. My youngest daughter Zari will be teething soon and when she is I want to be ready with as many natural remedies as possible because teething really is a miserable time. Babies usually get their first teeth around 4 to 7 months, but some may start teething as early as 3 months of age. Teething can include a number of annoyances including: drooling (which can lead to a facial rash), gum swelling and sensitivity, irritability or fussiness, biting behavior, refusing food and sleep problems. I want to ease Zari's suffering. I also wanted something to help me and my sinus headaches and I thought this might do the trick.

Apparently when wearing Baltic amber close to the skin the warmth releases small amounts of healing oils from the amber that contain succinic acid and are absorbed into the skin. Baltic amber and its succinic acid has been used in Europe as a folk medicine remedy with healing properties of a natural antibiotic, natural analgesic (pain reliever), anti-inflammatory, and general curative for centuries. Succinic acid occurs naturally in plant and animal tissues, and it's presence in the human body is beneficial in many ways. Baltic amber is very special because it has some of the highest concentrations of succinic acid found in nature.

Succinic acid is the most beneficial component of the amber. It is scientifically accepted that the darkest colored amber generally contains less succinic acid than lighter colors. The more cloudy or opaque amber is, the more succinic acid it contains (and usually the more cloudy amber is the nearer to the color white it becomes). The translucency of amber depends on the amount of air bubbles contained within a piece of amber and their distribution. Some believe the color is related to the type of tree source.

Inspired by Finn's necklaces are handcrafted and are made of authentic Baltic amber, the most treasured type of amber in the world. The necklace fastens with a screw clasp, and the necklace cord is knotted in between each bead as a safety feature so that the beads just don't all slide off if the necklace happens to break. Warning: Necklace does contain small parts. Children should always be supervised when wearing this jewelry, and it should be removed when the child sleeps. Measure the proper length so there is no strangulation or choking hazard. The length of the necklace should not be too snug or too loose, just somewhere in between. *Of note: I didn't get to measure the necklaces I received from Inspired by Finn, they were just given to me for free as is for the review.

I felt that the necklace helped reduce my sinus migraine headaches significantly. Especially if I wore the necklace around my forehead. I read the closer proximity the Baltic amber is to the pain the better it will help it. I read also that the amber acid fights toxic free radicals, is a natural stress reducer and helps strengthen the immune system. It is my own belief that the Baltic amber did help me. However I am not a medical professional by any means and so I would advise you to try it for yourself instead of taking my word for it. Even if they just worked for me because of the placebo effect I am happy with the results and the necklaces are beautiful all on their own so still very much worth purchasing! Since my results for myself worked fairly well I am excited to try them out for Zari.

Mommy Tags Review and Giveaway

Mommy Tags makes personalized jewelry that is handcrafted and created from silver that has been recycled from film. They make beautiful silver jewelry that is hand stamped with names, initials, dates and my favorite, doodles!! They have: Mommy Tags (Main "Bebe Love" tag with one baby name tag), Daddy Tags (Main initial tag with one baby name tag. Fits up to three names and birth-dates), Tot Tags (One initial tag and one name tag. Not recommended for children under the age of 4), Wagg Tags (Choose from cat or dog. Personalize with the date of passing or name) and Accessories (additional tags, chains, anti tarnish bags, etc.). I received a Mommy Tags necklace with the main Bebe (french for baby) Love/Heart tag, which represents a mother's love for her children, and all four of my child name tags stamped with each of my child's first names and dates of birth on them. They were so very generous and offered to do all of this for free for me to test and review their product. When I received the Mommy Tags they were in a small ziplock bag with anti-tarnish strip and packaged in a nice reusable tin. The very cute label on the tin is made from a corn based material called EarthFirst PLA, a renewable resource that is grown here in the USA. The tags are beautiful and I know that I am going to cherish this necklace always and wear it often! I think I am going to make them a beaded necklace to separate them out more so they will hang where you can see all of them at once. I was having fun with this photo shoot as you can see :) I laid down on my new ottoman and my son took this picture from above.

My other very favorite product on Mommy Tags is the Doodle Tags! I haven't done one yet, but I think one may be in my future!! It will definitely go on my wish list! Not only is this a very unique personalization of your child's scribble or drawing, but it also comes with a wood mounted rubber stamp of the artwork along with a black stamp pad to use for stamping your own note cards, scrapbooking or t-shirts. I love this concept!!

Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewelry Review

Ok, I must admit I had only heard of Smart Mom Jewelry and had already bought their jewelry before I went searching for more great products for teething babies. I came across this website called Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewels. They have a line of teething jewelry and keychains similar to Smart Mom Jewelry's. This jewelry line is conceptualized and manufactured by Dr. Helen Bloom Smith, a dentist and loving mom from Birmingham, Alabama.

These jewels are also made from plastic that is food-safe, non-toxic, phthalate, BPA, latex, lead, and PVC free. They are also dishwasher-friendly. Dr. Bloom's Chewable Jewels are made of food grade silicone that has FDA approved materials and colorings. Not only did Dr. Bloom make sure the material and colorings on her products were safe for your baby, she made sure the product was the perfect thickness/hardness. If a product is too hard it can damage the tooth buds. She apparently has done her research to find the perfect durometer for a teething baby. She should know her stuff, being a dentist and all! The pendants have a latex free cording that has elasticity to allow for stretching instead of the breakaway clasp. The jewels for the necklaces come in a rectangle pendant, circle pendant, or hexagon pendant. They also carry bracelets and keychains.

Smart Mom Jewelry Review

Here is my littlest one, Teela, enjoying some Teething Bling from Smart Mom Jewelry. She is also pictured on their website.

What a great product they have! I love the fact that they are safe for babies to chew on and so stylish to wear. As many moms know that when you wear your jewelry while holding small children they are always enthralled by it and want to either pull on it or chew on it. I can say that most of my jewelry is not safe to chew on. Most have small parts and some even have lead in them! The Teething Bling is made from plastic that is food-safe, non-toxic, phthalate, BPA, latex, lead, and PVC free. They are also dishwasher-friendly and all pendants come with a breakaway clasp. As you already know I love bangles...so when I heard about this fabulous product on some other mom blogs out there I had to buy one to see for myself. I bought the Lapis Lazuli donut shaped pendant and the bangle to match.
