Janet Fletcher is an experienced food writer in Napa Valley that loves all things cheese. She is author or coauthor of more than two dozen books on food and beverages, including Cheese & Wine, Cheese & Beer, and The Cheese Course. Her weekly email newsletter, Planet Cheese, is read by cheese enthusiasts internationally, and she is also a member of the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers. Her love of dairy didn't stop at cheese; however, because she recently just authored a cookbook called Yogurt: Sweet and Savory Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Yogurt: Sweet and Savory Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner is a wonderful cookbook that takes yogurt to all new levels. This yogurt-centric hardback cookbook gives us more than 50 recipes for breakfasts, appetizers, salads, soups, meaty meals, vegetarian meals, sauces, marinades, desserts, and beverages.
The contents of this book are well laid out and easy to navigate. This book starts with an introduction telling some history, science, differences, health, and some notes on recipes behind yogurt. Yogurt: Sweet and Savory Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner then goes into making your own yogurt at home with topics on choosing: milk, starter, and incubation method. It also goes into making different kinds of yogurt, like: drained, Greek, yogurt cheese, and using whey. After this main section on homemade yogurt it goes into the recipes. The recipes are broken up into these categories: Yogurt for Breakfast, Appetizers & Salads, Soups, Mostly Meat, Vegetables & Grains, Desserts, and Beverages. The end of the book has a bibliography of references to read in addition to this book, resources to find some of the harder to find ingredients and equipment needed for some of the recipes, an about the author page and her acknowledgements in making the book, and an index for finding things easier throughout the book. There is also handy measurement conversion charts inside the back cover of the book.
The layout of each recipe is quite simple. At the left side of each recipe includes the title, how many it serves, ingredients and how much. On the right side there is a small paragraph where the author introduces it, and the directions on how to make it. I do wish that all of the recipes were accompanied by the photograph of the completed dish, but not all of them are. Having photographs of
each completed recipe would have been more helpful to people like me who are very visual and love to see what the food should end up looking like before making the recipe. The recipes that do, have gorgeous photographs that represent the dish well and complements the recipe page nicely.
I love this cookbook. Even though yogurt is a staple in my household, I have not tried to make it myself and I would love to someday. This book tells me how to make it homemade even without an electric yogurt maker. I love yogurt and I love experimenting with it in recipes of my own. The Yogurt: Sweet and Savory Recipes for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner cookbook gives me even more inspiration to add it to foods and beverages that I might not have thought of.

Müller Corner Yogurt Review and Costco Membership Giveaway
![]() |
| Quaker Müller Corner Yogurt 12 Pack from Costco |
Quaker Müller Corner Yogurt is a delicious yogurt cup with a separate corner that has different toppings to mix in with it. These are easily frozen so that you can take them with you and choose to eat it frozen or just put a few in the fridge to eat thawed, either way they are really yummy. They are great for healthy snacks for after school and when school is out in the summer for the kids.

| Quaker Müller Corner Yogurt 12 Pack from Costco. Flavors: Choco Balls, Strawberry, and Caramelized Almonds. |
At Costco in the refrigerated section you can pick up a case of 12 with flavors: Corner Strawberry and Corner Choco Balls, as well as a flavor exclusive to Costco, Corner Caramelized Almonds. These all have smooth and creamy lowfat yogurt with live and active cultures. The Corner Strawberry is my favorite out of all three. I love strawberries! This topping is more like a strawberry jam or preserves. The Corner Choco Balls is really good too. The choco balls have a similar texture to malted milk balls, but smaller. They are made of chocolate-flavored coated crispies. The Corner Caramelized Almonds has toasted caramelized almonds and almond pieces. These are really yummy if you love something crunchy mixed with your yogurt. This was the favorite of my son Jaedan.

MyGetTogether Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives Event
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I have chose to host a Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives MyGetTogether from the General Mills Pssst... Network. From now until December 31st, you can help the cause by purchasing Yoplait Yogurt and sending in your lids. For every pink lid you send by December 31, 2010 Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Click here for instructions on where and how to mail your lids. You also can Fan/Like them on Facebook and they will donate an additional $1.00 for every virtual lid you send to your friends on Facebook. You can also go to the Starter Kit section on the Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives website to download some cool tools to use in your fight for the cause. There is even an iron on so you can make your own t-shirt to show your support!
Here’s what I received in MyGetTogether Kit:
- Materials for guests including pass-along talksheets and coupons
- A copy of Promise Me, a book authored by Nancy G. Brinker, the founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
- A breast health shower hanger and resources to gather additional breast health materials
- $15 cash card to purchase Yoplait product to serve during the get-together
My dad's sister died of breast cancer and I wished there was a cure then. She was unfortunately not one of the survivors you sometimes hear about. I was younger and wasn't aware of how I could help the cause back then. Now I know and am trying to help out as much as I can to spread the word and raise awareness of this awful disease.
You can get a coupon for 50¢ for cups of Yoplait yogurt.
I had fun with my party. Everyone had some yummy Yoplait yogurt with pink lidded tops and my friends went away with a better understanding of how they can support the cause too and maintain breast health and self-awareness. We also read a chapter of the Promise Me book by Nancy G. Brinker and it was so inspiring! I recommend it for reading!

Yoplait Splitz Review and Giveaway
Instead of a sundae try Yoplait Splitz! Yoplait Splitz is a new yogurt from Yoplait that tastes like a sundae, but is 100% yogurt that has no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors or sweeteners and is 90 calories. This yogurt is also a good source of calcium and vitamin D. Available in three yummy flavor combos including Strawberry Sundae, Strawberry Banana Split, and Rainbow Sherbet.
My family tried the Rainbow Sherbet because it sounded the best to me. It came in a 4 pack and is split into two dreamy flavors in one cup: orange sherbet and raspberry sherbet! I love frozen sherbet and when you freeze these yogurts in the freezer they taste just like it. I liked the orange sherbet that was the top layer the most and unfortunately it was the least of the two flavors in the cup. Also, I thought that if they really want to call it "Rainbow" sherbet then they should have added lime, lemon, or another sherbet flavor also. I really liked it otherwise though. I love them frozen the best and my kids enjoyed them as well!!
We had fun using our picnic blanket and Activo Picnic Time insulated tote in Red Clay color with caramel interior and stitching that came with the coupon. The insulated tote is made of 600D polyester fabric that has a water-resistant coating that repels condensation with a waterproof PVC liner and double-cinch cord closure. It is 11" X 6" base (that is a textured non-skid PVC) and 14" height so it carries quite a bit. It has padded carry handles and an adjustable, detachable shoulder strap. The padded shoulder straps cushion with non-slip PVC underside. There are a lot of pockets and the hardware is metal. You can use this tote at the beach, sporting events, picnics, or long trips in the car. I love how the blanket rolls up in a nice tote-able package and the insulated tote has lots of pockets and is great to keep stuff like Yoplait yogurts cold. As you can see we had a very healthy picnic in our backyard with the yogurts and some other foods. We had a great time until the mosquitoes started to come out.

Yoplait Kids Yogurt Review and Giveaway
ABOUT YOPLAIT KIDS YOGURT:Yoplait Kids yogurt has 25% less sugar than the leading kids´ yogurt. It also contains no artificial sweeteners or flavors. Its thick and creamy texture will hug your little one´s spoon, so less mess and without chunks it poses no choking hazards.
In addition, Yoplait Kids is a good source of vitamin D and, according to two new studies that provide the first national assessment of the crucial nutrient in young Americans, millions of U.S. children have disturbingly low vitamin D levels, possibly increasing their risk for a variety of health concerns, including bone problems. About 7.6 million children, adolescents, and young adults have vitamin D levels so low they could be considered deficient. It can be challenging for growing kids to get enough vitamin D because this nutrient is only found naturally in very few foods; however Yoplait Kids makes it a little easier to incorporate a delicious source of vitamin D and calcium in your child's diet.MY THOUGHTS:
It is getting harder and harder to find a snack that is both good for kids and that tastes good. My kids love yogurt as much as most, but all the additives and sugar add up. I am glad to find that Yoplait Kids yogurts have 25% less sugar and is a great source of vitamin D and calcium. We got the Raspberry Rainbow/Strawberry Banana Bash Trix yogurt with our free coupon. It was quite tasty and my boys gobbled it up :) They loved the swirl of colors and flavors in the cups. We also enjoyed the prize pack we received free from MyBlogSpark. The cooler bag was very handy on our next car trip and the place mat was great because it is so easy to clean. The boys and Teela had fun with the color change spoons and the fuzzy tangle toy.
WIN IT:
Le-La from MyBlogSpark has generously offered 2 of these Yoplait Less Sugar, More Fun prize packs to give away to my readers! So in other words 2 readers will win!! The prize pack includes: coupon* for a Yoplait Kids yogurt, a travel cooler (to take your yogurt on-the-go), a fun spoon that changes colors in warm water, a reusable place mat with games to keep the kids happy while snacking, and a fuzzy tangle puzzle for some after-snack fun.
Mandatory:
1. Go to the Yoplait Kids website and tell me what other product you or your kids would be interested in trying AND share how you make snack time fun for your kids (do both or be disqualified).

Sneaking Fruits & Veggies Into My Toddler’s Diet
I am a very big fan of eating healthy. Getting the right amount of fruits and veggies in my kids' meals is important to me and the task can be challenging at times. There are many ways I have hidden fruits and veggies in my kids' foods. Some of my kids are more picky than others. My youngest, Teela, isn't the pickiest of my bunch by any means as you can probably tell from the picture here of her eating broccoli. But hey, I would love to share some secrets I have tried to get her and my others to eat their veggies in particular...fruits I don't seem to have a problem with...unless you are discussing the eating habits of my developmentally delayed special needs child, Tatiana.SOME IDEAS:
1. Fruit and veggie smoothies.
2. Fruit and veggie juice blends without added sugar or high fructose corn syrup. You can also make them into popsicles or frozen cubes.
3. Bake them into things. I love chocolate chip zucchini muffins :)
4. Make zucchini puffs, poor mans crab cakes, an omelet, or Okonomiyaki (A Japanese style pancake that you can put all sorts of things in.).
5. Have them make their own foods with ingredients you provide. Kids who cook or prepare it themselves (with a little help) usually end up also eating what they have made. Salads or fruit and veggie kabobs are wonderful to do this with!
6. Broccoli with cheese sauce. Classic!
7. Casseroles and Crock Pot meals loaded with veggies. Have your little one help you with what goes in it.
8. My kids think they are cool because they like "green paper", seaweed wraps for sushi, to eat plain. They think it is funny to eat them in front of someone who might think they were a bit strange for doing so.
9. Rename things in fun ways like the above "green paper"...broccoli could be mini trees, peas could be called "power peas", or spinach leaves could be "dinosaur scales", etc.
10. Have them help you in the garden...if they have picked it or grown it maybe they'll eat it.
11. Teach 'em while they are young. Read books to your baby and toddler about fruits and veggies and the importance of eating healthy.
12. Use Japanese Bento Boxes or be creative about serving the fruits and veggies. You can make all kids of fun creations from animals to faces the skies the limit!
13. Frozen fruit and veggies...some kids love to just eat them frozen...esp. good on a hot day!
14. Start early, offering your toddler lots of different types of foods and letting them see you eat and enjoy a variety of foods, especially fruits and vegetables.
15. Last but not least, I am going to give Little Blends a try.
