Putumayo Kids Latin Dreamland CD Review and Giveaway

I love music from Putumayo Kids! They are a great company that produces high quality music for kids that is both multicultural and educational. I received the Putumayo Kids Latin Dreamland CD for free to facilitate this review.

Latin Dreamland is a new album by Putumayo Kids that takes you on a dreamy lullaby journey through South America. This soothing CD has both traditional and new songs that are great for relaxing and for bedtime. I love this CD. It was nice to listen to when winding my kids down for the night. The only song I recognized was the last one. I am ashamed to say that I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and don't remember too much of it. I guess the saying that if you don't use it you lose it is correct. Fortunately for me the track note insert was filled with information about each track in English :)

The first song is about a little bunny and the lullaby its mother sings to lull it to sleep. The second is about the moon peaking in to see if the little one is asleep. The third is about the night. The forth is a love song about a pretty gardener who is sad because one of her flowers died. The fifth one is a sad story about a dove who sings for his long lost love. The sixth one is about echos in the Andes Mountains. The seventh song is sung to the children of the south from colder climates and is called Cradle of Ice. The eighth song is about a kind of tree that lives in the rainforest in Brazil and the Amazon and how it has survived a fire. The ninth song is about a waltz. The tenth song is actually traditionally sung in a style called ranchera and is played faster, but this is done slower here in a lullaby by the artist.

Little Music Lovers Review and Giveaway

ABOUT LITTLE MUSIC LOVERS:
Little Music Lovers is a four CD series for children that was released on September 22nd by Universal Music Classical just in time for the holiday season. The music collections provide a great opportunity for parents to introduce their babies and toddlers to music from famous composers such as Bach, Beethoven and Mozart along with well-known lullabies that can accompany little ones through all of their daily activities including play time, story time and of course, bed time.

MY THOUGHTS:
I received the Little Music Lovers sampler CD to listen to, share with my family, and review from Role Mommy for free. This sampler CD has 8 classical tracks on it (2 from each of the 4 CDs). I had heard a lot of these previously so most of the songs were not new to me. We enjoyed listening to the selections and in the end the lullabies were making me yawn, LOL! These CDs give another way to interact with your child. Classical music is wonderful to stimulate brain development. If you go to the Little Music Lovers website and click on the the star that says "Play Now" you will be taken to a page with activities and ideas on how to interact with your child while the music is playing. Make it fun and engaging. We did and it made the music even more enjoyable!

Click on the links below to go to Amazon.com and hear a preview of all the songs on each CD. You can also listen to some selections on the Little Music Lovers website.

Here is what I was able to listen to on the Music Sampler:
Mozart: Smart Music for Play Time
1. Piano Concerto No. 21 in C - Andante
2. Concerto for Flute, Harp, and Orchestra - Andantino
Bach: Smart Music for Activity Time
3. Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G - Allegro
4. Fugue in G minor "The Little"
Beethoven: Smart Music for Story Time
5. Piano Sonata No. 14 in C sharp minor - Adagio sostenuto
6. String Quartet No. 13 in B flat - Allegro assai
Lullabies: Smart Music for Bed Time
7. Brahms: Cradle Song
8. Canteloube: Brezairola - Chants d' Auvergne
