Chris Mann Roads CD Review

Chris Mann is a very talented singer and song writer. He has a swoon worthy voice that melts hearts. If you don't know him you should at least check him out. I first heard about him back in April through ONE2ONE Network. He was a newbie back then trying his wings out on the The Voice, an American reality talent competition show on prime-time NBC. Now he has a new album called Roads coming out October 30th.

Roads have their ups and downs and forks you have to decide whether to take. They are a journey and so is life. This album is aptly named because of its being the consummation of an extensive and demanding journey for this talented and committed young artist, who’d been pressing onward against what had appeared to be staggering odds.

Roads covers an eclectic mix of music, mostly of classically based pop. Chris Mann co-wrote two songs, “Cuore,” based on Bach’s “Air on a G String,” and the contemporary ballad “Falling”. Cuore is Italian for heart and this song is named rightly so because it definitely stole mine. Falling is a gorgeous song about falling in love. The other songs on this album range from Willie Nelson’s “Always on My Mind” and Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now” to “Ave Maria” and Damien Rice’s “The Blowers’ Daughter,” with the latter featuring a special guest appearance from Aguilera. Paul Anka even reworked “My Way” so that instead of being about being about a guy looking back, the new lyrics for Chris Mann are from the point of view of a young man looking hopefully ahead. The album ends with Coldplay’s anthem “Viva La Vida” sung by Chris.

I love the whole album. Chris has a rich passionate voice and is backed with an orchestra that makes the music full and beautiful. The arrangements are perfect and breathtaking. I will be watching for more albums from him and seeing where this road leads him next.
