Gigi God's Little Princess: Gigi's Big Break by Sheila Walsh Review

This DVD, Gigi God's Little Princess: Gigi's Big Break, is very cute and tells the story of a young girl by the name of Gigi. In the first story she tells a white lie and everything backfires. She ends up learning the value of telling the truth and that even if you get into trouble it is best to do what is right and say what really happened. In the second story Gigi has always been the first in her life and learns that sharing her parents' love with a new blessing in her life will only give her more joy and happiness, not less.

Download a free God's Little Princess Party Kit. I will be using this for Teela's upcoming Birthday :)

This was my first encounter with the God's Little Princess stories and I loved that they each have a wonderful message for children. My kids, especially my youngest daughter, enjoyed watching these and learning. They especially liked the cooky cat. I feel that this DVD is great for teaching all younger children lessons about honesty and loving siblings even though they are very much aimed towards little girls.

DVD Description on Thomas Nelson's Book Sneeze:
Two new, fully-animated heart-warming stories and a fun sing-along song.

The White Lie: Sheila Walsh reminds little girls that it’s no fun getting in trouble. But when we do wrong and try to cover our sin, things only get worse and our hearts get heavy with guilt. But we have a God who knows our weaknesses and loves us anyway. Teaches the lesson of 1 John 1:8-9 "If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he will forgive...and cleanse us from all the wrongs we have done." (ICB)

The Pink Surprise: Sheila Walsh says: "Isn’t it fun to be the first in line? When I was young, all the kids would run to get as close as possible to the front. It’s a little like being the only child in a family—you get one hundred percent of your parents’ attention, and can sometimes even feel like the world revolves around you. But it turns out that there are other blessings in life besides being first, and Gigi has been blessed with an adventure that will last a lifetime." Teaches the lesson from Jesus’ prayer in Luke 10:21 "Father, you have hidden things from the people who are wise and smart... but shown them to those who are like little children." (ICB)

Mom's Bible: God's Wisdom for Mothers NCV Version By Bobbie Wolgemuth (General Editor) Review

Mom’s Bible: God’s Wisdom for Mothers is a lovely bible that has wonderful devotions, wisdom, insights, and advice just for moms. This bible is available in the New Century Version (NCV). The NCV is supposed to help us with biblical concepts putting them into natural and easy-to-understand English terms and aims to make the Bible easier to comprehend. This version seemed to follow the text fairly well of King James Version (KJV) that I am used to with some added side notes on the mothers in the bible and mothers in general. It is a beautiful hardcover bible that would be great as a gift to any mother for Mother's Day, birthdays, or as a special mom thank you. It is a companion to the Dad's Bible and teaches just how much God thinks of mothers as beloved, cherished, valuable and of critical importance to everything and everyone. It also encourages mothers to live a life full of importance and worth and build on their relationships with God.

Features:
*Book Introductions
*Special sections on: Walking In ways that are pleasing to God; Our God Is...; Godly Character; Passing It On; Moms in the Bible; Questions Kids Ask; and Wonderful Counselor, covering issues moms face from the perspective of a Christian therapist
*Highlighted First Touch verses: verses to mull over throughout the day
*Topical Index

I highly recommend this bible to all mothers as a companion bible to whatever version you are accustomed to reading.

The Gospel According To Lost by Chris Seay Review

LOST is one of my favorite TV series and I have watched it with my husband *religiously* from the first episode to the last episode of season 5. I am so excited for the new and final season 6 to start on Tuesday February 2nd! I was intrigued to say the least when I saw this book come up on Thomas Nelson's Book Review Blogger's website aka Book Sneeze. I chose it to read and review and they sent me a free copy.

LOST, for those of you who have never seen this TV series, is a drama that follows the complex, intertwined, flawed and broken lives of the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 which crash lands on a mysterious tropical island somewhere in the South Pacific. Almost at its sixth and final season, it is a show that has a massive amount of followers and fans...myself included. Just when I think I have figured out the plot, it thickens and throws in even more twists and turns....and so many more questions. I love how the show is so thought provoking and clever.

The Gospel According to LOST by Chris Seay goes through and paints a picture of each of the main characters and how they are connected with the spiritual, philosophical, mystical, and biblical. Chris Seay compares the characters of LOST with people of both the Old and New Testament of the Bible. The chapters of the book delve into faith and reason, guilt, fate, quantum spirituality, dharma, island life and salvation. The author makes some of his own hypothesis and predictions. The book was a fast read and I thought the parallels were interesting. I think that it would have been better if it were written after the last season ended, but it is still a good book and I enjoyed reading it.

The artwork in the book is called The Saints of LOST and is very well done. The black and white prints of the art pieces are in front of each chapter pertaining to a character and then in the middle of the book they are all there in color. You can see more of Scott Erickson's work HERE.

For those of you who are die hard fans here is a season 1-6 episode recap in 8 minutes 15 seconds. If you haven't watched LOST I highly recommend you do from beginning to end. Don't spoil it for yourself by watching this!!...
