Homemade With Love Cookbook Review

I received this cookbook for free to facilitate this review.

I am a newcomer and new reader of In Jennie's Kitchen, a popular blog written by Jennifer Perillo a.k.a. Jennie. She has been dishing out good culinary advice for busy parents and time-strapped cooks on her food blog since 2006. Her new cookbook, Homemade With Love: Simple Scratch Cooking from Jennie's Kitchen, just published April 2013. In it she shares her homemade prowess in cooking from scratch, buying local, eating at home and making home-cooked meals that can be shared with family, friends and loved ones.

I believe making time to eat home-cooked meals around the table with your family is very important. My family doesn't do this quite as often as we should and I believe we should make this a habit. Because of our ever busier schedules and long to do lists it is hard to squeak making meals at home and eating them there too in to our everyday schedules. I would love to cook more home-cooked meals from scratch more frequently for my family. This cookbook takes the seemingly overwhelming task of from scratch cooking and makes it easier to accomplish at home, even when you have very little time.

I love how Homemade With Love: Simple Scratch Cooking from Jennie's Kitchen is laid out. After the acknowledgements and introduction it goes into setting up a homemade kitchen, including creating the perfect pantry - from dry goods to what to have in your fridge and freezer. Then she goes into the basics, offering shortcuts to baking mixes to other homemade necessities like nut butters, ricotta, chicken stock, marinara and yogurt. After that the book is arranged into more categories of wonderful recipes. Here are the contents...
