Live Love Lead: Your Best Is Yet To Come! Book Review

I received this book free to facilitate this review. Affiliate links may be in this posting. Thanks for supporting my blog.

Brian Houston, founder & global senior pastor of Hillsong Church, has written more than 12 books. His latest book, LIVE LOVE LEAD: Your Best Is Yet To Come!, inspires us to follow Christ as He guides us on our journey through life. Brian Houston shows us how to LIVE fully, LOVE completely, and LEAD boldly  - the hallmarks of Jesus' time on earth.  This book tells Houston's and Hillsong's story throughout their ups and their downs, but never faltering from their faith in Christ. His wisdom, encouragement, vision, and passion for living a faith filled life gives us a roadmap of sorts to our living as Christ did.

I love the book LIVE LOVE LEAD: Your Best Is Yet To Come!! The book has so many powerful and inspiring messages that are so profound. They are messages that I really needed to hear. Houston is so very honest, sincere and full of humility in telling about his life. The faith lessons and biblical truths surrounding his life-tested personal experiences are refreshing, empowering, and enlightening. Even though I am from a different Christian church denomination than the author of this book it was definitely well worth the read and quite fascinating to learn about the pastor behind the Hillsong music that I have been loving listening to.

Organic India Tulsi Tea Review

Organic India Tulsi Tea & Psyllium Products
I received these products for free from Organic India and Moms Meet to facilitate this review.

Tulsi also known as Holy Basil is an herb prized in India for its healing power. Organic India's Tulsi Teas include three varieties of Tulsi leaves: Rama, Vana, and Krishna. Each variety has a slightly different look, taste and smell and when combined, create a perfectly balanced herbal infusion with an array of health benefits. This tea is GMO and gluten free. This tea is very good hot or cold. Tulsi is an adaptogen, which means it lessens stress and helps boost immunity. It energizes, soothes, relaxes, builds stamina, aids digestion, balances metabolism, balance energy levels, and uplifts mood. It is also abundant in antioxidants and is anti aging. This tea is USDA certified organic and Kosher and Halal certified. Can also be purchased in lots of different flavors in boxed, bulk, and loose leaf variety. The boxed variety is what I got to enjoy. It has 18 individually wrapped tea bags per box for freshness that can be easily taken with you to enjoy. Organic India recommends that women who are pregnant, attempting to conceive, or lactating consult their healthcare practitioner before consuming Tulsi (Holy Basil).

Tulsi Original Herbal Tea - I like the original a lot. It has a nice herbal flavor. This tea is caffeine free, but energizes me throughout my day without the caffeine withdrawal!

Tulsi Sweet Rose Tea - This delicate feminine herbal tea is a blend of Tulsi leaves and organic rose petals, balanced with soothing chamomile flower, the natural sweetness of organic stevia leaf, and a touch of lemon myrtle leaf, all infused with the essence of rose. This fragrant floral bouquet is wonderfully rich and exotic for the senses. I love how, if I close my eyes, it magically transports me to a English rose garden every time I drink a cup.

Tulsi Raspberry Peach Tea
- This caffeine free tea is wonderful for stress relieving and detoxifying. Warm spicy Tulsi, succulent raspberry, and aromatic peach, accented by a touch of elderberries, hibiscus flower, and black currant leaf; combine to create a fruity, fragrant infusion that brightens my day. I love this tea both hot or cold and it is so good with a splash of lemonade in it too!

Tulsi Pomegranate Green Tea - This special blend is made with delicious pomegranate (which is rich in vitamin C), sweet hibiscus flowers, tart elderberries and notes of refined citrus that is combined with Tulsi and organic green tea. This energetic blend will invigorate you and improves digestion, while cooling and refreshing your senses. This tea has 13 mg of caffeine per serving (8 oz) because of the green tea that is added. A 8 oz cup of coffee is around 90-400 mg depending upon how and where it's brewed, so this tea is considerably less. Green tea is antioxidant rich. Antioxidants help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. This tea is one of my favorites with its vibrant tango of flavors for my taste buds.

Tulsi Honey Chamomile Tea - This caffeine free tea is wonderful for stress-relieving, relaxing, and having restorative benefits. It is great to calm anxiety and settle stomachs. The Chamomile flower blossoms and honey have a perfect smooth flavor to soothe me before I sleep.

Tulsi Red Mango Tea -This luscious tropical blend of caffeine free African Rooibos (redbush tea) leaf, chamomile flower, and India's sacred Tulsi is infused with India's favorite fruit, the succulent mango. It is stress-relieving, nurturing and gives transformative energy because of its high antioxidant content. This herbal tea has a lovely fruity taste with less tannin than black or green tea.

Tulsi Peppermint Tea - This caffeine free tea is stress-relieving, refreshing, cooling, invigorating, and restorative. The ambrosial peppermint has soothing properties that help calm anxiety, settle stomachs, and aid in digestion. I love peppermint tea and this one is especially delicious with the added benefits of the Tulsi. I love this tea hot or cold with mint leaves and/or lemonade.

Bonus Items:

Organic Psyllium - This is a whole husk Psyllium that is derived from the seeds of the herb Plantago ovata. This bulk-forming dietary fiber contains both soluble and insoluble fiber that naturally supports the complete gastrointestinal system to provide you with better digestive and heart health. This is the only Certified Organic Psyllium fiber supplement on the market today. Promotes healthy elimination and regularity. Serving size is 1 tablespoon per day in a 10 oz glass of water, juice, or your favorite beverage, stirred with an additional glass of water as a chaser to ensure proper hydration. 68 servings per container. This is a Kosher, gluten free and non GMO supplement. For adults and children over 12 years. Best taken before or between meals. I love that this is organic and better for me than other fiber supplements.

Organic India Shopping Bag - Classic tote for taking to the grocery store and being eco-friendly because it is reusable and washable. Lightweight and durable.

Organic India Mason Jar Glass Tumbler - This vintage 20 oz glass Mason Jar tumbler is perfect for on the go and comes with a lid and reusable straw. It has the Organic India logo printed on it.

Organic India has over 20 delicious flavors of Tulsi tea, herbal supplements, herbs, herbal coffee, gifts, and other wellness products. You can check out the company for yourself on their social networks too: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube.

Wordless Wednesday Gigantic Apple

This apple tree we uncovered from the grape vines produces huge apples.

YWAM Publishing Heroes of History Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Storybook Life and Unit Study Curriculum Guide Review

My family had the privilege of trying the Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Storybook Life book and Unit Study Curriculum Guide from the Heroes of History series by YWAM Publishing for this review to use in conjunction with our own homeschool curriculum. This is a Schoolhouse Review Crew Review. All opinions expressed are my own or those of my family.

YWAM (YOUTH WITH A MISSION) Publishing is a nonprofit organization that produces and distributes books that help Christians make a difference in the world by giving a portion of every dollar spent to buy books through YWAM Publishing to children and adults in other countries that are in need. Their books focus on evangelism, educational training, prayer, discipleship, and mercy ministries.

YWAM Publishing has two popular book series; one called Heroes of History and the other called Christian Heroes: Then & Now; in which true stories are told of real people that lived in our history. In the Heroes of History series we learn about great men and woman who changed the course of history. In the Christian Heroes: Then & Now series we learn about ordinary people who have put their trust in God and in doing so accomplish extraordinary things. Both of these book series help us as: parents, teachers, and caretakers; give our children wholesome biographies to read or be read to that teach good character traits, values, and virtues. You can read more about them at: http://www.heroesthenandnow.com/.

Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Storybook Life Book

The Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Storybook Life book by Janet & Geoff Benge is part of a series of 26 biography books called Heroes of History by YWAM Publishing. This book tells the true life story of Laura Ingalls Wilder, a character that I remember when I was younger from reading the "Little House on the Prairie" book series that she had written about her life. I also grew up watching the TV series too about her also called "Little House on the Prairie" and although the books and TV series were different in some ways they both had great stories and taught wonderful values. This book from YWAM Publishing about Laura Ingalls Wilder teaches great character traits, values, and virtues too. It chronicles her and her families life from the big woods of Wisconsin to the Indian country of the Great Plains from 1867-1957. You also get a good feel for how the West grew and transformed into farms, towns, and railroads as Laura herself was plunged into the midst of it all. It is a total of 15 chapters and 193 pages long. The book is even more of an eye opener how trialing her life was and how she still endured to the end with a positive attitude.

Hardtack: a very hard to chew biscuit cracker the pioneers and soldiers ate. Our dog loved them!

The Unit Study Curriculum Guide that is paired with the Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Storybook Life book that I received was in the physical format on CD. I want to make note that YWAM Publishing is in the process of changing all of their Unit Study Curriculum Guides from physical versions to digital versions that are downloadable to your desktop. The Unit Study goes in depth to help you go above and beyond the book and explore other areas that pertain to the material like: crafts, cooking, art, and writing assignments; has questions to ask your children to see if they comprehended the reading, and quotes to use as copywork to enhance handwriting or memorization.

Here is the Unit Study Curriculum Guide Contents:
Part 1 -
Introduction (how to use the study)
  1. Key Quotes (great for copywork, memorization, theatrical presentation, or art display)
  2. Display Corner (an area designated for hands on display of items relating to the reading)

  4. Student Explorations (essay questions, creative writing, hands-on projects, audio/visual projects, arts & crafts)

  6. Social Studies (places, journeys, terms/vocabulary, geographical characteristics: mapping, timeline: plotting historical events, conceptual questions)

Appendix A: Books and Resources
Appendix B: Answers to Chapter Questions
Appendix C: Social Studies Reproducibles

Part 2 -
Continuation of Appendix C: Social Studies Reproducibles

HOW WE USED IT:
I read the book to my two youngest girls who are 4 (almost 5) and 7. They enjoyed listening to me read about Laura Ingalls Wilder. After each chapter we did the comprehension questions from the study guide. We had fantastic discussions about pioneer and country life and I could tell they were loving learning about her as I haven't read the Little House book series to them yet or had them watch the TV episodes (I know! I am going to get on this a.s.a.p.). Their little inquisitive minds were filling with questions and I knew after we finished reading the book that they still hungered for more to learn. From the many, many suggestions of the study guide we also made hardtack (a kind of hard cracker/biscuit made from flour and water that our dog loved more than us), grew our own root vegetables: potatoes (ours didn't take 4 months like it said it might), and dressed up in similar fashion.

Growing Root Vegetables: Potatoes

I love that the Little House series has so much to offer for homeschoolers and this book and study guide adds to the list of awesome curricula out there. There is literally thousands of things you can do with this and it can be expanded upon exponentially. In the coming months we will be delving deeper into the unit study to help my daughters learn even more about Laura, her family, pioneers, American Indians, and frontiersmen & frontierswomen. We love YWAM Publishing Heroes of History and will be back for more!

Super Teacher Worksheets Individual Membership Review

My family had the privilege of trying the Super Teacher Worksheets Individual Membership for this review to use in conjunction with our own homeschool curriculum. This is a Schoolhouse Review Crew Review. All opinions expressed are my own or those of my family.

Whether you homeschool, are an elementary educator, or just want to have an educational activity for your kids to do after school this year, Super Teacher Worksheets has got you covered with their vast selection of worksheets and activity pages. This website offers hundreds of online printable pages in PDF format from their membership database. This database covers a huge range with subjects in: Math, Reading, Writing, Phonics & Early Literacy, Handwriting, Grammar, Spelling Lists & Worksheets (Gr. 1-5), Foreign Language, Music & Art, Health & Safety, Science, Social Studies, Holidays, Puzzles & Brain Teasers, Teacher Helpers, Pre-K & Kindergarten, and even Make Your Own Worksheets. The majority of these are geared towards Pre-K through 6th grade.

Super Teacher Worksheets (STW) is a very affordable option for homeschoolers, teachers, educators, parents, and caretakers of children. The price for an individual membership is only $19.95 (U.S. Dollars) per year. This individual membership lets you easily navigate the whole website and download as many printables as you would like during that time to print them out or save them into your own STW Filing Cabinet so that you may download and print them out at a later time if you choose.

Navigation of the Super Teacher Worksheets website is pretty straightforward. Once you log in to the database you will see your name at the top and when your membership is active through. This is a great reminder of when you will need to renew your membership of your account. This along with the STW banner (clickable, to get you back to the homepage), account, renew, logout and filing cabinet buttons, and a search bar are always at the top for easy access. The homepage has some of the main subjects listed as headings with links for more specific categories under them. For example; for the Math heading it would have Addition, Algebra (Basic), Area, Counting Money, Decimals, and so on as the more specific categories with links that head to those pages. If you go to one of these pages you can find even more specific narrowed down categories within these pages, some having links to more pages and others having the view PDF link under them. From beneath most worksheet name, description, and grade level you can select the view PDF button (which will open the PDF file to be able to print it and/or download it), CC icon (if there will open a pop up that tells you about the common core standards alignment; including the code that goes with it and a brief description of what is learned), lang icon (if there will open a pop up that tells you other languages the worksheet is available in; English and Spanish), magnifying glass looking icon (which will open a pop up that lets you preview a tiny version of the file before you open the actual one), and file folder icon (which lets you add the file to your STW Filing Cabinet). Once you have saved a file to your virtual filing cabinet the file folder icon on the page you found the file on will be highlighted so that you will know that you have it already saved. It really is easier to find things than I just described and you can always use the search bar located at the top of each page too.

You can also make your own worksheets with the various worksheet generators. You can make your own: math pages, games (flashcards, BINGO), puzzles (crosswords, word searches, word scrambler, missing letters), quiz generators (multiple choice, matching, fill in the blanks, short answer/essay), and teaching tools (classroom newsletter, calendars).  Members can save their generated worksheets in their virtual filing cabinet too!

How We Used This and Our Thoughts:

In my homeschool my youngest two girls are the only ones still in elementary school. My daughter, Teela, is in 2nd grade and my daughter, Zari, is in Pre-K. So I used the Super Teacher Worksheets website with them. They both love homeschool and enjoy doing worksheets and activity sheets.

Zari doing the autumn Super Teacher Worksheets I printed for her.

The Super Teacher Worksheets website has some seasonal pages on their homepage. These rotate depending upon the season that it is in the year. I found some autumn/fall ones that were age/grade appropriate for my daughters and printed them out for them to work on. I am so glad they list what grade level each worksheet is supposed to be for. Zari needed practice with her fine motor skills using scissors and cutting paper so I thought that the leaf and pumpkin mini-books would be great for her because she would be learning counting, colors, and cutting skills. She kept saying she loved her little books she made. I was happy she liked building them so much. She loves working on homeschool work when her siblings are also doing theirs. Zari also did the color-by-number scarecrow. She knows her colors well, but couldn't read the words for each color yet, so I colored each word the color they were supposed to be to help her. She is also working on learning her numbers by sight. The color-by-number scarecrow that I printed for Teela was slightly more advanced and had her subtract numbers to get the number that the section was supposed to be colored. I also printed out a color-by number squirrel that had her subtract numbers to get the answers. These were too easy for her, but she had fun doing them. I also printed out an Autumn is awesome crossword puzzle and pages for reading comprehension called Nature's Rainbow.

Teela working on some of the Super Teacher Worksheets for Autumn.

Zari working on her skills cutting with scissors with Super Teacher Worksheets.

Since Zari needed to learn scissor skills I found pages just for that for her under the Pre-K and Kindergarten section. She loves cutting out things and asked for more pages to cut out. She cut shapes, curvy wavy lines, zigzag lines, and straight lines. She did very well for her first time cutting on the lines.

Make sure to print preview before printing Super Teacher Worksheets.

I printed out an Alphabet Picture Book for Zari as well so she could color, trace uppercase letters and some words that begin with the letters. As I was printing the first page I noticed that it didn't print properly (just printed boxes where other things should have been), so I stopped the printing right away. I am glad I was watching because I would have printed out 28 pages of weird boxes instead of what it was supposed to be. I looked at the print preview and sure enough it wasn't liking something in the code. I instead downloaded the PDF instead of just opening the one directly from on the site, then I printed it and everything printed fine. I am not sure why this happened, but I wanted to make sure my readers knew about this. Before printing out something from Super Teacher Worksheets make sure the print preview is looking good for all the pages you are printing.

Zari working on the Super Teacher Worksheets ABC Book.

We love Super Teacher Worksheets! It is, like I mentioned above, very affordable and they seem to have a worksheet or activity page for everything for elementary school students right in one easy to access website. I love that you don't have to dig around and search the whole internet for something that goes with what you are teaching. We had so many more worksheets and activity pages that we printed for our girls to work on. I also love that most of their worksheets have a answer sheet with them so the teacher/educator can check the student's work easily and quickly. They have so many different worksheets and activity pages to choose from. We are going to use this a lot throughout the year. This is certainly a wonderful resource right at my finger tips.

The Biggest Story: How The Snake Crusher Brings Us Back To The Garden Book Review & Giveaway #BIGGESTSTORY #FLYBY

I received this book free to facilitate this review. Affiliate links may be in this posting. Thanks for supporting my blog.

The Biggest Story: How The Snake Crusher Brings Us Back To The Garden is a gorgeously illustrated children's book that tells stories of the Bible from the Garden of Eden to Christ's resurrection. This hardcover book with dust-jacket has 132 pages of brightly colored illustrations and stories from the Bible that small children can understand. It also has a handy attached ribbon bookmark to help you keep your place.

The author and illustrator has made this book a work of art. Kevin DeYoung makes this an easy to read book with his easy to understand text. He is an experienced father of six and best-selling author to other books as well as this one. The award-winning artist, Don Clark, paints strikingly vivid pictures with powerful illustrations. These remind me of traditional Scandinavian folk art a little bit. He uses a lot of geometric shapes and bright colors for his palette. His artwork pops out of the pages and will mesmerize anyone looking at it. This makes for a nice symbiosis that little kids will especially love.

My daughter, Teela, who is 7 enjoyed reading and looking at this book. She could even read its pages by herself. My daughter Zari who is 4 is a little bit young for this book as there are some harsh concepts in it (for example, murder) that I do not think appropriate for my daughter at her tender age to see or learn about. My daughters did pore over the pages and liked looking at the illustrations a lot. The brightly colored pictures definitely catch the attention and hold it.

Even though we have heard the stories before in one way or another, this retelling was a little different. This retelling focuses on the Biblical truth that no matter how many times God's people sin, God still finds a way to redeem the world he made and keep his promises. It does leave out a lot of the story along the way, but tries to touch on the most important parts. The book is made up of lots of smaller stories within 10 chapters that are woven together to show how everything sort of fits together and why. At the end it has A Note To Parents, a guide for parents to help the discussion of what was read.

I did like that The Biggest Story: How The Snake Crusher Brings Us Back To The Garden has a good message behind it. It reminds us that God always remembers and fulfills his promises. It also shows that we need redemption, forgiveness, and salvation from Christ, The Snake Crusher, to lead us back to our promised home.

I recommend this book to parents, teachers, and caretakers everywhere that want to teach children about the amazing grace of God.

Nichole Nordeman The Unmaking Album Review and Giveaway

I received this album free to facilitate this review. Affiliate links may be in this posting. Thanks for supporting my blog.

Nichole Nordeman just came out with "The Unmaking", her brand new album that was released August 28th. The theme of this CD is certainly rebirth and new beginnings. The album comes with a CD insert that has the words of each song so you can follow and sing along.

I love this CD. It is a CD of 6 tracks that all are beautiful and speak to the heart in their own way. The first song shares the same name of the album and creates the feel for the whole entire album. We all remake ourselves at some point in our lives, so this is very relatable. The second track is called "Not To Us" and is all about giving glory to God and having Him be your foundation. I love how it gently reminds us that the Lord is our creator and the creator of all things. "Name" is the title of the third song on the album and is about not forgetting that we are all children of God and "Love You More", the forth song, is all about forgiveness. We all have broken from the path God has chosen for us at some point in our lives, we all make mistakes, we all are human...but we must come back to him because he is always there for us, can help us through troubled times, and will forgive us. "Something Out Of Me" is a gorgeous song about Jesus feeding the multitude of people and the miracle of the loaves and fishes. "Slow Down" is a very identifiable song about having kids and feeling that they just grow up to quickly. This song brought me to tears because I have this feeling about my kids all the time. All of them are growing up too quickly and I wish I could somehow slow it all down.

This whole album is wonderful and I recommend it highly! Nichole Nordeman has a gorgeous voice and lovely spirit. I will continue to enjoy this album for many years to come.
"Before things in our lives can be resurrected and given new life, certain things must die. Before beauty blooms in spring, roots must do the hard work under the hard frozen soil of winter. Before you renovate and re-build, you tear down the parts of the structure that are weak or damaged or dangerous. Before we make, we must unmake." Nichole Nordeman

TRACKLISTING:
  1. The Unmaking
  2. Not To Us (featuring Plumb)
  3. Name
  4. Love You More
  5. Something Out Of Me
  6. Slow Down

About Nichole Nordeman:
Nichole Nordeman is a recording artist and songwriter for Sparrow/EMI CMG, with numerous number-one and top ten singles to her credit and cumulative CD sales of over one million. A two-time Gospel Music Association winner for Female Vocalist of the Year, she has won a total of nine Dove Awards, including the best-selling album, Music Inspired by The Story. The MAiZe at the Pumpkin Patch - Portland, Oregon Sauvie Island Deal

US Family Guide provided me with this promotional information to share with my readers. I am getting something for free in return for posting this information.

Portland's original cornfield maze celebrates its 16th season at The Pumpkin Patch on beautiful Sauvie Island in Portland, Oregon. Sixteen years ago, Craig Easterly, founder of the original corn maze, brought his weird idea to Sauvie Island's famous Pumpkin Patch and it soon became a fall tradition. The MAiZE attracts 30,000 eager explorers annually to the giant labyrinth of field corn, located just fifteen minutes from downtown Portland. Portland's premier agri-tainment attraction, The Maize and The Pumpkin Patch, have combined the local food movement with down home fun on the farm.

The MAiZE theme this year is "Dream Big" and depicts a happy child thrilled to find one of The Pumpkin Patch's giant pumpkins in the field. The MAiZE encourages visitors to come out and enjoy the rest of this fantastic summer we have all been enjoying as they lose themselves in the two miles of twist and turns in the five acre cornfield.
